At Not Yet Famous… we are commitment to the planet and to a new way of looking at the fashion industry, which includes the use of organic and/or recyclable materials, as well as the creation of timeless pieces. In fact, the brand does not have collections precisely to avoid participating in the hectic calendar of the fashion industry, whose environmental impact is devastating. Every piece is made to last and never goes out of fashion.
All our t-shirts, sweatshirts and caps are all made of 100% organic cotton, from certified supplier and Textile Exchange Active Member, The Cotton Group. Sweatshirts and caps are also made of 100% organic cotton from Ecocert certified supplier Kariban.
Each time you buy an organic cotton piece instead of a conventional cotton one, you are reducing water consumption by 91% (around 397 litres of water). Organic Cotton is also grown within a rotation system that builds soil fertility, protects biodiversity, and is grown without the use of synthetic fertilizers, toxic pesticides or GMOs.
Furthermore, our price tags are made from recycled paper and hung with jute yarn (No PLASTIC!).
Our sunglasses are designed in Lisbon, with classic and timeless shapes in mind, so that you don’t have to buy a new pair every season. Three of our models are made of metal, which is fully recyclable, but most are made from highest grade cellulose acetate.
Acetate is not plastic. It’s a semi-synthetic material which base material is mostly wood pulp and natural cotton fibers, that is processed in an industrial facility using a cocktail of acids to form a melted goo that is molded into glasses frames. It’s not totally ecofriendly, but it’s still sustainable as it lasts in perfect shape, color and brightness for decades and decades. So if you buy acetate sunglasses with a classic shape, you are buying a piece that will last a lifetime.
Every frame is built with hand-guided cutting, and then hand-polished to finish, until they’re just perfect.
All sunglasses come with a felt case with faux-leather strap (once again, no plastic).
Although we are trying to shift production to Europe, our sunglasses are currently made in China by a ISO9001 certified factory.
Living in Lisbon, a city that has more than 12 hours of sun, reflecting on our amazing Portuguese pavement, we know how important it is to have high quality lenses. That’s why all of our sunglasses have polarized lenses and 100% UVA and UVB protection, for optimum visual comfort and superior eye protection.
Polarized lenses use horizontally aligned polarizing micro crystals that help reduce glare. Glare is caused when light from the sun is reflected off of water, snow, glass, pavements. By neutralizing glare, polarized lenses make colours and images more vibrant, and your overall visual experience improve.
The normal sun lenses only decrease the light intensity. They provide the kind of comfort that you know, and you are used to. But Polarized lenses give you that extra something that can really make the difference. One thing we can assure you: once you experience polarized lenses, you won’t ever go back!
